Meet Jenna
I found Pilates through chronic back pain and sciatica. Physio exercises worked short term (while I did them), but when an Osteopath insisted I found a Pilates class, it was a turning point for me. No longer was I in the cycle of booking appointments and feeling dependent on others to ‘fix’ me – finally, I was in charge of my body and that felt good.
Pilates gave me space to slowly do what I could; I built resilience, prioritised self-care and started to feel more like myself again. A regular practice was cruicial and I needed a class for that. This getting unstuck is what I share with my clients.
My previous science career might surprise you, I have a PhD and used to be an immunologist; I worked in quality assurance, checking drug preparation was tip-top! After finding my way out of chronic pain, I knew I wanted to help people more directly; this is how I came to teach Pilates!
Helping people take care of themselves with Pilates, self compassion and patience and seeing the difference it makes to each person is why I teach.
When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me walking in the forest or snuggled with a mug of tea and my animals (rescue dog Pip and noisy cat Ruru). I love sharing a picnic with my family in the summer or cooking up a one-pot vegan chilli in the winter!
Pilates is no quick fix (I’m sorry), but it will support you through all of life’s stages.
